The Best Books for Anxiety

I know from my own personal battle with anxiety that finding methods of ‘self-help’ or ‘coping strategies’ can be a daunting task, particularly if you are looking for something that works!. There are many people out there though, usually mainstream mental health professionals, who like to ‘bash’ the idea that reading a self-help book can in some magical way, help to ease the stresses and symptoms of anxiety. Well, I am here to tell you, it can.

I’d like to advise the reader that there are some excellent books available that really do help with not only anxiety but many other problems that many us of face on a day-to-day basis.

The best books for anxiety, I’ve found quite ironically, are sometimes not even books that are geared towards dealing with anxiety itself but actually about learning techniques that are used by some of the best alternative therapists around the world.

Throughout my training as a hypnotherapist and Neuro-Linguistic practitioner, I was advised to purchase and read some of the below suggested material which I did.

I remember thinking that some of the applications taught sounded quite bizarre initially, but I found when applying these methods to clients, they were experiencing some quite significant ‘change’ in their behaviours and more often than not, very rapidly!

Many of you may find that once you start learning about our minds and how we are able to ‘re-define’ them, you might indeed follow suit as I did in a hobbyist or potential career path in helping to heal yourself and others!

Methods that help to self-heal


First and foremost, I’d like to point out, that the first big obstacle I overcame which then went on to significantly reduce my anxiety was beating an eating disorder which I’d had for over 20 years.

It was such a huge part of my life and something that I thought I’d never overcome. But with the help of hypnosis, it was all made possible.

Now, I was lucky all those years ago as my visits to the hypnotherapist didn’t cost the earth and I understand that our busy lives these days tend to make regular appointments anywhere hard work. I think this is why so many people are deciding to learn these skills for themselves as once you have them, they really are with you for life. I myself regularly make using self-hypnosis part of my weekly routine, just so I can face a new week feeling relaxed, calm and centred.

The audio cd that accompanies the Paul Mckenna – ‘I can change your life in 7 days’ is in my opinion, one of the best audios to use for anxiety and other mental health disorders and once used as part of your routine, I am sure you’ll also find much benefit from it.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

NLP is in a nutshell, learning how to communicate with your brain in order to make long-term changes. It was actually created by looking at how successful people communicated

But there are some great books available which can teach you the skills to make a complete change to your lives possible and this includes the reduction in anxiety symptoms.

I’d like to state that it is probably best (I did) to buy all three of these recommendations, by doing so, you’ll have absolute insight into why change is possible and how change is possible and it’s with this realisation where the excitement begins!

So let’s look at this first of my suggestions.

I can change your life in 7 days – Paul Mckenna

Paul Mckenna is so highly regarded in the hypnotic world and has been instrumental in the industry to provide techniques which have produced life-changing results for thousands of people and that’s not just his face to face clients, his books have also had huge success, with many celebrities endorsing and using his self-hypnosis methods.

The first thing I noticed having completing ‘I can change your life in 7 days’ program is how your life and attitude seemed to be blessed with optimism, you will feel like there is no mountain you cannot climb! complete the exercises and put the work in and you are really rewarded with some great success.

The one piece of advice I’d like to provide around this book is, go into it with a positive attitude, there really isn’t much point making the purchase and from the word go doubting its ability. The more you want the change to happen, the more committed you are to the process, the better the outcome will be.

I believe this really is one of the best books for anxiety out there, combined with the audio you receive with the book this is a must have for the anxiety relief seeker!

Richard Bandler’s Guide to Trance-formation: Make Your Life Great

Someone who works closely with the above mentioned Paul McKenna, is Richard Bandler, the Co-Founder of Neuro-Linguistic Programming which is a tool used for creating last change within our minds with the use of our modalities, communication and thought patterns.

When I was training, I read this book so many times, so much so I think I actually need a new copy! Bandler, in my opinion, is nothing short of amazing and when you start to understand how easily changes can be made within our brains, you’ll also want to let the world know too. Anxiety, Fears, Phobias, it’s all in there, and all covered.

Once you understand how people such as McKenna and Bandler are able to rapidly induce change, you’ll find that knowledge and understanding that the impossible is more than possible rub off onto yourself. It really is contagious!

I urge you to read, read and read some more about NLP and how it can be adapted to solve many issues and help you develop and reach your goals and aspirations, with these life skills you’ll find that your desires are much closer than you think!

How To Master Self-Hypnosis in a Weekend – Rick Smith

Please do not be having second thoughts around this book due to its low price. This was a best seller and I believe again, is a must-have in your anti-anxiety toolkit!

I believe its the simplicity of the book and the ideas behind the hypnosis that is making this book a big success. You’ll love using the book as it really is like becoming your own hypnotherapist and you also have that flexibility to work on yourself when is right for you, no trying to schedule appointments or large fees to pay, I cannot recommend enough purchasing this book to help change your life and in conjunction with the previous two products, you will be well on your way to reducing your anxiety and concentrating on what’s important, yourself!

Before long you’ll begin to notice just how easily you are able to fall into that lovely feeling of relaxation and literally feel all your troubles melt away! That is the power of self-hypnosis if you have never experienced it before you are certainly in for a treat.

As I have said many times before, throughout my writing, hypnosis was the first step that really did springboard my success with reducing my anxiety and if you are willing to put in some time and effort, you will reap the benefits from this amazing ‘Self Technology Solution’
